Waiting for the Winter

I remember when we lived in Michigan, it was late winter, I was pregnant and packing for us to move to Florida, and I kept playing this song over and over again. I was so excited to move somewhere warm and get away from the cold blah winter. Now that we've spent almost 3 years here, I find myself missing that time of year when fall becomes winter. So now I am listening to this song with a different ear.

Lyrics: California Dreamin' by The Mamas & the Papas
All the leaves are brown
And the sky is gray.
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day.
I'd be safe and warm
if I was in L.A.
California dreamin'
on such a winter's day.
Stopped in to a church I passed along the way.
Well I got down on my knees
And I began to pray.
You know the preacher likes the cold.
He knows I'm gonna stay.
California dreamin'
on such a winter's day.
All the leaves are brown
And the sky is gray.
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day.

Just a blur

So much has changed even in a year. Amelia is constantly on the go and I just can't get her to stop for one minute. My inlaws nicknamed her "neverstop". I thought I would take some photos of her on Thanksgiving for our Christmas card. But she was just a blur in most of them. She wants to move and wiggle and run. None of this sitting or standing for mommy. I did get a few neat pictures of her walking away from me, a nice one with chocolate on her face, and one none blurred photo of a smile! I was so intent on eating, that I forgot to take photos of us at dinner. The food was plentiful and amazing! I did however, take a nice couch shot of DH after dinner. Most of us took naps or laid down after we ate.

Black and Christmas

These are photos of my sister, Rachel, that one of my other sisters (Liz) took. She is really an amazing photographer! Of course, she has a beautiful subject too :)

Amelia's First Trip

Journaling:
I took you for your first trip outside the house when you were seven days old. You looked so tiny to me, you were still too small for most of your clothes. I bundled you up in pajamas and a dress, plus lots of blankets. It started snowing that day and I was worried about you getting cold. Grandma Eifert took us shopping for some baby things that we needed before our big trip to Florida. You slept the whole time and didn’t make a peep. You were such a sweetie!

Pumpkins

ournaling:
We had so much fun at the
Potter Park Zoo! I think
everyone loved the penquins
the most. We spent the most
time there, just looking and
giggling. You thought it was great to
ook over the edge and see the penquins
down below. August 10, 2009

Creative Victorian Designs has a new kit out called Hunter. It's perfect for fall and Halloween photos. I used it with Amelia's pumpkin patch pictures from last year.

Journaling:
Amelia’s first visit to a pumpkin patch was an interesting one. She wasn’t quite
sure what all of those big orange things were. She wanted to touch and point at
everything she saw. She was so intense on checking out the pumpkins that I had the
hardest time getting her to smile for me while I was holding the camera. She did
have a great time sitting among the pumpkins and I loved how she looked with her
orange shirt on!

Just be You

Journaling:
Damon came up with this
great way to pull Amelia
around on her bike. He hooked
up two dog leashes to her
handle bars and now we can
easily pull her and steer the
bike. It's pretty cool and fun
to take her on walks like
this! I took her out this
week and taught her the words
"fast" and "slow". She giggled
everytime I said the words and
then I would jog with the bike
or walk super slow.

Last year, you had no idea what candy was, but you know this year! You kept biting into your candy while the wrapper was still on!
